Can South Korea Keep Managing Its Ties With the US? A Video Interview

0m read

In a recent interview at the South Korean Mission House in New York City, the country’s chargé d’affaires ambassador, Sangjin Kim, talked about Seoul’s review of Palestine’s bid for statehood and the death spiral in Gaza; the UN Security Council’s handling of the Afghanistan file; and South Korea’s balancing act with the US and China. He also drew a direct link between Russia’s vetoes in the Council and Moscow’s deepening military ties with North Korea in Russia’s war in Ukraine, and he acknowledged the “delicacy” of Korea’s foreign policy choices in an increasingly polarized world. – DAMILOLA BANJO
